We know you're a busy MoMma! And selling your twin clothes can feel overwhelming. But I'm here to tell you that it doesn’t have to be.

At SameSame Kids, we believe in the power of MoMmas connecting – and we want you to make the most money you can while sharing your gently loved clothes, and memories, with other families.

Setting up your shop can be as short and simple or as detailed and planned as you want it to be.

To help you to put your best foot forward, here are a few tips to try.

Prepare and style your clothes

Tip 1: Clean the clothes

This probably goes without saying, but we’ll say it anyway. We know twins are messy, but when we shop online, we like to imagine what the clothing looks like at its best, and that’s when it’s clean and wrinkle-free. So making sure the twin clothes you sell are washed is important!

Tip 2: Style your photos

This is where you get the chance to be creative in how you showcase your clothes. Here are some ideas:

  • Use cute models (like your own babies!)
  • Lay the clothing on a flat, clean surface free of clutter
  • Hang the clothes on hangers or a DIY clothesline.

Tip 3: Add sizzle to your style

Presentation is everything when selling your twin clothes online. Here are some additional ideas for presenting your gently loved clothing:

  • Use backdrops made of sheets of solid-colored paper or poster board, wood tables or floors, blankets, or tablecloths {make sure it's wrinkle free!}
  • Add a few cute props such as bottles or toys
  • Take photos in your kids’ room to give buyers the feel for your children’s story
  • Have your twins be part of the photos. If they’ve outgrown the clothing, maybe they could hold them up for the camera.

Tip 4: Take high-quality photos

This doesnt mean you need to pull out your fancy digital camera! Your camera on your phone will work just fine! Remember, we also want this to be easy! Just make sure the images are straight and in focus. We want your photos to do the selling with clear, crisp images.

Tip 5: Use natural light

Accurately portray your twin clothes colors – and be careful not to overexpose the images (which means your colors get washed out.)

Use natural light from a window or outside – morning and evening are often “softer” than high noon.

Another tip? Avoid your camera’s flash if at all possible.

Tip. 6: Be careful about shadows

Photography can be a little tricky. So just be aware of shadows you might accidentally cast on your photo, especially shadows of yourself holding your camera, and try to take photos without them.

Tip 7: Keep your camera steady

We want to see your cute twin clothes clearly! Keep your camera steady to make sure the photos are as crisp and clear as possible.

A tripod can help reduce camera shake, and low-cost tripod models are available for smartphones online if you find yourself regularly selling online.

Tip 8: Be detailed in your photos

Do you have onesies with designs on the front or cute embroidered animals on the bum?

Too many sellers take shots of the entire piece without showing the details. Zoom in to show the design, pattern, stitching, or any other unique parts of the clothing. More photos are always better!

Tip 9: Take photos from multiple angles

We want to see the front and back of your twin's outfits. Make sure to include any flaws, perhaps in the stitching, or small stains.

Ask yourself, “If I were buying this at a store, what would I look at if I could hold it up in person?”

Write clear descriptions and create a system

Tip 10: Write clear product descriptions

When you write your clothing or accessory descriptions, be as detailed and clear as possible.

Include the clothing brand, sizes, and colors, fabric type(s), flaws, and the condition the clothing is in. It’s all information another MoMma might want to know!

Tip 11: Include details

Make sure the colors you write are the same colors as the clothes in the photos. Include information that may be difficult for the camera to pick up.

Do the tutus have sequins? Write down the sequins. Are the leopard leggings textured? Write down the texture.

Include every last detail!

Tip 12: Tell your story

We want you to share the story of your clothes. Did your twins wear this outfit at their first birthday party, or when they took their first steps? Share a brief memory in your post to help share the joy of parenting multiples with others.

Tip 13: Be realistic about prices

We know you can’t put a price on the memories you’ve made with your babies, but remember that the moms buying your clothes haven’t made memories in those clothes yet.

Do a little research on the price by looking at how similar, gently loved clothes are priced online. And keep current trends in mind, even in baby and toddler fashion. Some styles aren’t in-demand and your pricing will need to reflect that.

Tip 14: Organize your clothes to sell

If you have containers full of clothes, it can be easy to set an outfit aside and lose it in the mix-up of all the other outfits.

Right from the beginning, develop an organization system that works for you.

For example, make a list by writing down each matching clothing item and add a unique number & label (example: Tshirt 1, Pants 2) and then put them together in a bag that’s labeled.

Or simply organize all the listed items in totes or bags by size! Then when it sells you know exactly where to look!

Tip 15: Know which clothes to ship

When selling a lot of clothes, organization is really key. We also recommend having a system for items that have been purchased but not yet shipped.

Something simple like a checkmark on your clothing inventory list will do. You’d hate to have to cancel an order because you can’t find one of the outfits or everything is together except one left shoe.

What I think?

Matching twin outfits are pretty darn cute! And I’ll keep on matching until they’re older and they want a say in their style. And then I’ll reserve my MoMma opinions for family photos and Sunday’s best.
