You're going to be a twin mom! Here are 9 items to pack in your hospital bag — and 9 items to leave at home.

I know there are a ton of ‘lists' out there on what to pack in your bag but delivering twins and triplets is a whole other ballgame and let me tell you that you don't have time for ‘stuff'.

My hospital bag wasn’t packed the day I was told to go into the hospital for my emergency C-section.

When my doctors called me, I went home to take a shower, pack my toothbrush, makeup and pajamas and cute outfits for my twin boys.

My husband and I grabbed the boys’ car seats and blankets and that’s about all we had. I wouldn’t have changed a thing about what I packed, either.

Think about it, the less you bring to the hospital, the less you have to drag home!

Yes, Pack this in your hospital bag when delivering twins!

1} Change of clothes:

You’re going to be half naked wrapped in some sort of hospital gown until you go home but remember to pack clean comfy clothes to go home in.

If you want to go home looking fashionable…you go girl! I personally was a hot mess so if you're anything like me, I would suggest comfy pants with a drawstring, a nursing tank top and a zip up sweatshirt if its chillier outside.

These are honestly my go to pants even after I had the twins! They're so soft and comfortable, not to mention, adorable! They sell them on amazon for under $20 and have so many styles to choose from! I promise you, you can't go wrong with them!

2} Toothbrush and makeup

People are going to be taking a lot of pictures of you. You’ll want to make sure you feel your best so you can enjoy the pictures later on. Just don’t over think this.  Remember, you will just have had babies. But I promise you a little mascara and some tinted chap stick will go a long way when you look back on these amazing memories.

I love this little (large) bag! Its great for shoving things into and packed everything I needed into it! I loved that its water proof because I actually dropped it into the hospital sink when I was there!  Plus it can be used for much more than just a makeup/travel bag after you're home!

3} 1 Preemie and 1 newborn outfit per baby

Make sure you have clothes that fit your new bundles of joy. I swear those ultrasound techs just guess on size!  They told us our boys’ would be under 5lbs when we delivered and they came out at 6.6lb and 5.13lb. They did still wear preemie clothes home so I was happy I packed both.  It’s just nice to be prepared.

4} New, soft, twin-size blanket

Right after my twins were born, my sweet mom brought an adorably soft and cozy blanket to the hospital for me. I would never have thought to pack something like it but as soon as the boys were born, I wrapped myself and them into it and it was the most amazing feeling to be snuggled in with my sweet new twin boys. Let me tell you, it was much better than using the scratchy hospital blankets and much cozier to sleep with!

My go to blanket is from All the Feels but this blanket from Bedsure a more affordable style thats just as similar in feel and comfort! I would recommend buying one in white or off-white so you feel more comfortable bleaching it when you get home from the hospital!

5} Comfy Bathrobe

It’s nice to have something to cover up the hospital gown on walking trips and trips to the bathroom. Having a shorter robe is convenient so you can keep it on when nurses put compression bands on your legs, but I found that the longer one made me feel cozier in the hospital bed. The one I have I still use to this day and it brings back amazing memories of those first few days.

This is the one that I have in the blush color.  I'm usually a neutral color girl but I'd loved how pretty it is!

6} Snacks

I didn’t give birth until 9 p.m. and nothing was open by the time I could eat. Don’t bring too many snacks, though, because you might have a craving for something else (cravings continue after birth!) and you’ll end up having to drag them all home. Also — my hospital only had diet soda, so if you’re a non diet pop drinker you may want to sneak some in!

Granola bars are perfect because you can throw them in your bag and you'll have something to hold you over until you can eat something substantial.  Not to mention, you may not feel like eating anything too heavy, so they're perfect to get something in your stomach!

7} Amazon Fire TV Stick

If your hospital will let you, it may be nice to plug in a Fire TV Stick so you can watch what you usually do at home rather than the 4 channels they have! We brought ours and it was amazing!! Not that we watched a lot of TV but there was something comforting being able to jump into an episode of the Gilmore Girls and have it on in the background! (no, my husband did not have control over the remote! Ha!)

All you have to do is plug it into the back of the TV and you'll be set!

8} Cell phone charger

Find a charging cord that’s at least six-feet long because they put their plug ins in the weirdest places! We brought 10ft chargers and they were perfect, especially since the plug ins were behind the bed so the extra cord made it so I wasn't worried about moving around or tripping anyone with it!

You can always buy the name brand cords but I honestly think these work great, and they're 1/3 of the cost…for TWO!

9} Pumping bra and breastfeeding tank

Remember these and you won’t have to be completely naked while other people are in the room. Plus it’s nice to just get used to all the things you need from the start. I remember trying to pump and not understanding how to hold them both at the same time and had my husband run home quick to grab my pumping bra!

I loved this thing… even though I hated pumping…But thats another story! It was just so nice to not have to hold it in place, especially when you're probably also holding a baby…or TWO! The adjustable/removable straps helped when I wore it as an actual bra, but I also just kept it in my pumping bag and the strapless part was so easy!

No, don’t pack this in your baby hospital bag

Diapers & bottles: They'll have them there for you and the bottles they're use to start are so tiny that they'll have those as well and even will send you home with some!

Crosswords, magazines & other distractions: No matter how much time you spend in the hospital, you’ll be too exhausted and distracted to focus on small tasks. You won’t get bored, I promise.

Pads & feminine products: The hospital provides these. Ask for extra mesh underwear before you leave. Ask any MoM, I promise you they're the best!

Plants, flowers & home memorabilia: Don’t bring anything extra with you and ask your friends and family not to send anything directly to your hospital room. After the twins were born, we had to figure out how to get two kids, their car seats, everything we packed, plus flowers and plants that were leaking water out to our car. Just tell people that you appreciate the gesture but to please have any deliveries go straight to your house.

The key to all of this is – don’t overthink it.

Pack as few things as you can, especially if you live nearby. Someone will be around to bring you what you need if you find there is something you can not live with out.  Just remember that what you pack…you have to also bring home. Plus two babies.

Good luck, Momma! You’ve got this!

Keep it simple.
